Clark Lopez recently shared his thoughts on his role as a Respiratory Therapist, his journey with Apria, and some personal details to help us get to know him better:
After being in the hospital setting 30 years, I was looking for a change. I enjoy being with Apria due to being able to have the time to educate patients on a one-to-one basis. It is rewarding to see positive outcomes of those patients that are compliant and reduce hospital admissions. I have a Great GM that trust and allows me to do my job.
Being at Apria allows me to use my experience to help people understand why they are getting the home equipment. It is also a good feeling when patients call in asking to speak to me, by name.
I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist that delivers home sleep equipment (NIV) to patients after hospital discharge. I educate them on the use of equipment that will assist their breathing needed to keep them at home hopefully preventing readmissions. I explain to them why they are receiving the equipment and how it will benefit their disease process by improving oxygenation and removing carbon dioxide to improve ventilation. This will decrease WOB and reduce exacerbations. I also set up and educate patients on CPAP/ BIPAP for sleep disorders.
I like to spend time with my daughters, fishing, and watching football.
Frio River.
