Deborah is one of Apria's Market Respiratory Therapist Manager and she works out of the Richmond, VA area. Deborah has been a Respiratory Therapist for 43 years and has spent the last 3 years with Apria. Deborah spent some time time telling us about her job, her time at Apria, and a little more about herself. Here's what she had to say:
I originally worked for a smaller DME company and came to Apria when the companies merged.
I stay because I love what I do at Apria. I like being able to come to work, and be around the staff who I enjoy so much, and help out with clinical training and patient care. Especially as a Respiratory Therapist, the care that we provide to our invasive and non-invasive ventilation patients is really important to me. I take a lot of pride in the care we provide to them, that is a big reason why I stay.
I'm proud to work at Apria because Apria's focus has first and foremost been on patient care, and putting the patient first aligns with my values.
I've found over the years that the people at Apria believe in the mission, to improve the lives of our patients at home, and the people who I work with have always come together to do what's needed to help each patient. We've never lost focus on who is most important: the patient!
I help our patients get set up, use, and troubleshoot any issues they may have with their respiratory equipment so that they can stay at home and out of the hospital. I do this in a variety of different ways. I may be directly working with patients if they have issues, I also help patients by training the Respiratory Therapists, who I manage, on the new equipment we are offering, and I provide help to any fellow Respiratory Therapists who have escalated clinical questions.
I love to read and I love to shop! I also spend time volunteering with Make-A-Wish.
