Dysphagia
The inability to swallow or difficulty in swallowing. It may occur due to paralysis of the esophageal muscles or a narrowing of the pharynx or esophagus. Normally, involuntary contractions of the pharynx and esophagus force food or liquid to move downward to the stomach. Patients with dysphagia may have to be treated with enteral therapy.
