Nov. 7--Wilson Medical Center's Continuing Education Symposium for health care professionals will be held Nov. 11-12 at the Wilson Medical Center auditorium.
The annual event, planned in conjunction with Area L Area Health Education Center will feature speakers from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy, the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and the UNC School of Medicine.
Topics covered Wednesday will relate to pharmaceutical waste, the metabolic syndrome, HIV, and Alzheimer's. The program will cover medication therapy management, pediatric obesity, an update on H1N1, and the use of herbals, vitamins, and minerals on Thursday.
Registration is $80 per day, and seating is limited to 200 participants. Walk-ins will be accepted if space permits. For additional information or to register for the symposium, call the Area L AHEC office at 972-6958 or visit www.arealahec.org.
Area L AHEC is an affiliate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine and serves the educational needs of health care providers in Edgecombe, Halifax, Nash, Northampton, and Wilson counties.
