Achieve Healthy Communities: Grant Funding Opportunity for Parks And Recreation
  Anonymous

Originally Published:20091001.

NRPA WAS SELECTED along with three other national organizations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to establish a national program to promote healthy communities and prevent chronic diseases. ACHIEVE seeks to empower local communities with funding, tools and strategies to implement and sustain policy, systems, and environmental changes in chronic disease prevention and health promotion.

Park and recreation agencies play a critical role in promoting healthy communities. In response to this, NRPA will be accepting applications to fund 10 park and recreation agencies in 2010 to bring about change in their communities by mobilizing local stakeholders to implement policies and create environments that promote healthy lifestyles.

The application for the 2010 grant funding will be available in October/November 2009. For information about the NRPA ACHIEVE Initiative, please visit www.nrpa.org/achieve.
