Nov. 7--OXFORD -- Oxford is holding a downtown open house from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
The event is free and open to the public.
Downtown stores will serve refreshments and feature special sales and drawings and other items.
Also, the sound of the holidays will be heard throughout downtown as carolers stroll the streets. The J.F. Webb Chorus carol from noon to 1 p.m. today and 3-4 p.m. Sunday.
There will be a Walk N Shop for a Cure for Breast Cancer beginning at 10 a.m. today and sponsored by the Oxford Parks and Recreation Department.
Participants can take part in a 5-kilometer or 1-mile walk through historic downtown Oxford, beginning and ending in the parking lot on Littlejohn Street next to the Oxford Baptist Church. Registration is $10 with all proceeds going directly to breast cancer research. Participants may register from 8:30-9:45 a.m. today.

RE/MAX Perspective, in conjunction with its 10 a.m.-6 p.m. grand opening will host hot air balloon rides from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Hix Field. The pilot will be available for questions the entire morning prior to the balloon being inflated.
Visitors are invited to register for a gift basket filled with prizes from many downtown businesses.
Look for balloons on the doors of participating stores.
