Products/services: Fifth Avenue Chiropractic offers a variety of treatment options, including chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy and decompression therapy to treat back, arm, shoulder and leg pain and headaches. The practice plans to soon implement a corrective care plan to examine abnormal posture and correct the curvature of the spine. Fifth Avenue Chiropractic works with insurance plans.
Hours of operation: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, 2 to 6 p.m.
Staff: Dr. Bryan Staker owns the business. Fifth Avenue Chiropractic has five employees.
Background: Staker recently took over the business from Dr. J. Thomas Soliday Jr., who is retiring. Staker was looking for a business to buy when he met Soliday through a mutual friend, and his wife was also originally from the Hanover area. Staker completed his undergraduate degree in exercise science at Anderson University in Indiana, but felt that his real calling was to be a chiropractor. He studied to become a chiropractor at Life University in Marietta, Ga., where he graduated magna cum laude.
Staker is the eighth person in his family to become a chiropractor. The day Staker officially took over the practice, Nov. 2, was coincidentally the 40th anniversary of his father Bryce Staker opening his practice in Geneva, Ill. This week was also the 19th anniversary of the opening of Fifth Avenue Chiropractic.
In their words: "We're here to continue the great service that Dr. Soliday started," Staker said. "We have the same philosophies and plan to continue a really high standard of care."
