Nov. 7--PORT HUENEME --The city of Port Hueneme will host the Port Hueneme Senior Information Fair at the Orvene S. Carpenter Community Center from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday.
The workshop will feature representatives from the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) and the Senior Nutrition Action Council Thrift Shop's "Deals on Wheels."
Also on hand will be representatives from the city's senior nutrition and crime prevention programs, Alzheimer's Association, Caregivers, Volunteers Assisting the Elderly, Senior Concerns and Gold Coast Access Para-transit.
"Any senior can come, or anyone interested in the topics who might be a caregiver or has an older parent," said Lisa Donley, Port Hueneme recreation and community services director. "It's open to the public, regardless of age.
"Every year HICAP has come to speak, but last year we invited other agencies to set up a table, and it was very successful. So, we decided to do it again this year. It's important to understand the programs for seniors."
The community center is at 550 Park Ave. For more information, call 986-6542.
