Nov. 4--The Green River District Health Department received about 7,500 vaccination doses for the H1N1, or swine flu, virus Monday, and clinics are expected to be set up next week for target groups, including pregnant women.
Two weeks ago, GRDHD got about 2,000 doses, and vaccinated some school-age children Tuesday.
"We plan to begin taking appointments for those in the high-risk target population at each health center in our seven counties, hopefully sometime next week," said Janie Cambron, the regional epidemiologist for GRDHD.
The dates and times will be announced once they have been determined.
The next target groups include pregnant women, caregivers for children younger than six months of age, health care and emergency medical services personnel, people from six months to 24 years of age, and people from 25 to 64 years old who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from the flu.
The H1N1 public hot line is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at (877) 843-7727. More information is available online at www.healthdepartment.org, as well as at www.omhs.org.
